9th-12th grade
This program takes students through the salt marsh and uplands (forest) ecosystems at the GTM Research Reserve. The goal is to demonstrate how changes in coastal intertidal wetlands are tracked through students mirroring the monitoring methods of research staff.
Students will measure plant biodiversity and hike into the uplands ecosystem and learn how to perform a wetland delineation (the process of determining if a habitat is a wetland or not through certain criteria). It is strongly recommended that students wear clothing they don't mind getting wet and/or muddy.
